GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
The Encapsulation Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining encapsulation equipment used in the production of food-grade bacterial cultures (or similar products). This role ensures the accurate and efficient execution of encapsulation processes in accordance with safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following statements reflect the general details necessary to describe the major functions of this position and are not intended to be a detailed description of all the work/functions that may be required. Other duties may be assigned.
- Operate encapsulation machines and related equipment according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Follows operating discipline policies, principles, procedures, standards, and practices to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of assigned areas
- Monitor production processes to ensure proper encapsulation, yield, and quality of product.
- Set up, calibrate, and adjust equipment to meet batch specifications and minimize downtime.
- Perform in-process inspections and record operational data, including temperature, weight, and moisture levels.
- Follow safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Clean and sanitize equipment and work areas in compliance with hygiene and GMP standards per established frequency and procedures
- Communicate any equipment malfunctions, process deviations, or material issues to supervisors promptly.
- Proactively identifies improvements and opportunities utilizing improvement processes, appropriate management of change processes, and communication tools
- Assist in the packaging of finished goods, as needed.
- Maintain accurate production batch records and logbooks.
- Able to flex to the dry blending side of production and will perform the physical tasks and complete necessary paperwork associated with the following operations:
- Blending and packaging.
- Loading and unloading freeze dryers.
- Weighing ingredients, bulks and excipients.
- Cleaning rooms and equipment so they are suitable for production.
- Assemble/disassemble mill.
- Operation of the metal detector.
- Perform all master sanitation tasks associated with the department.
- Properly fill out room logs.
- Make corrections on documentation, adhering to GDP.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One to three years of related manufacturing or encapsulation experience preferred.
- Hands-on experience operating a Capsylon encapsulation machine is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is a plus.
